I finally conquered my fear!

On January 12, I Desiree George, faced one of my biggest fears, upside down roller coasters! For Skylar's birthday he wanted my parents to take him to Six Flags Magic Mountain, but when they tried to go in November, it wasn't open. So they changed the date and added Brian who took the liberty of having Skylar trick me into going.

Everyone who knows me knows I have always had a huge fear of going upside down. When I was little I saw a story on the news where they showed a roller coaster that stopped upside down on a roller coaster and people were trapped there for about 2 hours. I don't know if my fear was that I would get trapped, or fly off the track or fall out, all I knew was that it made me shake and tear up at just the sight of them.

In the days before going, I would pray constantly to have the guts to go on some of the rides, but on the night before when I was saying my prayers for some reason I prayed for the courage to go on ALL of the rides and when those words came out of my mouth I almost had a meltdown. So the next day with the prayer in mind, I fearfully left with the fam for Six Flags Magic Mountain, my worst nightmare.

As we entered the park I was thinking we would take it easy at first and ride some of the small rides, you know, the one's without loops, but no we headed for Revolution. Now for those of you who are familiar with revolution, know that it is a small ride with only one little loop. That loop to me was one of the most intimidating things I have ever seen, as we walked up I started shaking with fear and my tears got the best of me. Here I was a grown up crying because I was on a dinky little roller coaster. Needless to say, it wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be and I actually enjoyed it.

Next we hit up Superman, and that thing was just as intimidating with it's huge straight up climb and 100 mph take off, but I jumped in that cart and held my breath and it too was better than I thought.

Then we hit up Goldrush, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, and the bumper cars! Nice and Easy!

After all of this low intense fun, they decided that we should go on Riddler's Revenge. For this ride you are standing up and it has the most loops and corkscrews out of the whole park! Yes, once again I started my water works, crying like a baby! As the ride began I had screams of terror and then about half way my fears turned into cheers and I was actually laughing at how much fun it was! Brian said it was one of the funniest things he as seen in a long time. And as it turns out this was my favorite ride there!

Next we went on the kiddie ride Ninja, this was one that I had been on before and I was excited to go on it because I had already conquered this one years ago.

I went on every ride there and actually had a great time! I am so glad that I have a family who was willing to wait for me to come around and grow up to face my fears. And a husband who was patient and wonderful the whole day! I couldn't have done it without him! It was the perfect day with great weather, no lines and all family fun! Everyone was so proud of me and I was so thankful that I mustered up the courage to jump on every ride, no matter how much Brian had to beg me. :-)

A lot has gone on...

Hello! Since the last time I wrote Christmas AND New Years has gone by! So...Happy Holidays!

This Christmas was crazy, we spent the day traveling from one family to the other, and having a great time at each stop.

Later that same week we spent time with my family in the desert at Ocatillo Wells. Brian and I had a great time quadding and motor biking. I am finally going on the long rides and becoming more of an adventurous rider, as opposed to a scared rider who wouldn't go up or down any hills.

This New Years was a quiet one for us, we stayed indoors and I fell asleep early. Brian woke me up with a New Years kiss and then we went to bed... no sparkling cider or anything... although we do have some in the refrigerator. :-)

Last weekend we went the Aquarium of the Pacific in Newport Beach and spent the day with Ryan and Missy. We had fun looking at all the different fish and jelly fish in the ocean. We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp and then came back to hang out at our house. It was a lot of fun!

This weekend we had Ryan and Missy over for a waffle breakfast and then Missy and I headed off to the mall for some sales. Later that night we went to dinner with our friends Tara and Dave Rubalcava from our old ward.

Brian and I are not looking forward to this week because it is the first whole we that we have to work... yuck!
